INTRODUCTION:

As we all know we are in a pandemic situation. To be safe we must be home. Before this Covid19,we all celebrate our vacation by going trips. So during this pandemic situation we can also visit places through virtual tour. For exploring places we can opt this way which cost free and effort free. Its is more safe and comfortable. I gone for a virtual tour to Sabarmati ashram which is most favorite place of mine to visit on June 22 night. This tour made me happy and satisfaction at the most.

Sabarmati ashram:

Sabarmati Ashram (also known as Gandhi Ashram) is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat adjoining the Ashram Road, on the banks of the River Sabarmati, 4 miles (6.4 km) from the town hall. This was one of the many residences of Gandhiji who lived at Sabarmati (Gujarat) and Sewagram (Wardha, Maharashtra) when he was not travelling across India or in prison. He lived in Sabarmati or Wardha for a total of twelve years with his wife Kasturba Gandhi and followers, including Vinod BhavaThe Bhagavad Gita was recited here daily as part of the Ashram schedule. It was from here that Gandhi led the Dandi march also known as the Salt Satyagraha on 12 March 1930. In recognition of the significant influence that this march had on the Indian independent movement, the Indian government has established the ashram as a national monument.

Magan Nivas:

Maganlal Gandhi was Gandhi’s nephew and his true follower since Phoenix Ashram days in South Africa. Gandhi called him “the soul of the Ashram” of which he was the architect and efficient manager. He introduced different upgraded designs of Charkha- the spinning wheel. It became the symbol of revolution which ultimately gave birth to Khadi. On his death in 1928, Gandhi remarked “I have been widowed”.

Hridhay Kunj:

While at Sabarmati, Gandhiji lived in a small cottage which is now known as 'Hridhay (Heart) Kunj'. Kakasaheb Kalelkar named it Hridhay Kunj. Gandhiji and Kasturba lived here from 1918 to 1930. Here he met national and international personalities. He left the Ashram in 1930 with a vow- “not to return to this Ashram till India became independent”. Inside there are 6 rooms: Gandhiji’s; Kasturba’s; Guest Room, Kitchen, Store room and Secretariat. There are also replicas and some originals, including Gandhiji’s Charkha and Writing Desks.

Nandini:

It is on the right hand side of 'Hridhay Kunj'. This was the guest house of the Ashram. Many national leaders and visitors to the Ashram stayed here. Poet Rabindranath Tagore, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Babu Rajendra Prasad, Reginald Reynolds, ‘Deenbandhu’ C.F. Andrews, Henry Polak, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad where among those who stayed at Nandini.

Udyog Mandir:

It was founded in 1918 during the historic strike of mill workers of Ahmedabad. In the beginning Gandhiji lived in one of is small rooms. A ‘temple of industry’ it symbolized self-reliance and dignity of labor It spread the message of ‘Swaraj though Khadi’ in the country.

Vinoba Mira Kutir:

Named after Acharya Vinoba Bhave who stayed here, and also known as Mira Kutir after Mirabahen, Gandhiji's disciple, daughter of a British Admiral.

This large building of approximately 100 rooms was used as a community living quarters. The students of the Ashram school, participants of Swadeshi and Constructive Work Training Program stayed here and observed Ashram rules including those of common kitchen

Upasana Mandir:

It is an open-air prayer ground, situated between 'Hridaya Kunj' and 'Magan Kutir' (the hut where Maganlal Gandhi, the ashram manager, used to stay). Here, Gandhiji used to refer to individual questions after prayers and as the head of the family analyzed and gave his solutions.
